‘La Tourtine’ comes from a 5 hectare plot of 40+ year old vines situated just above Tempier’s Cabassaou vineyard. Here, soils are rich in clay and limestone, which lead to a powerful and structured cuvée marked by bright acid and robust tannins.
2004 was a low-yielding vintage in Bandol, though hot days and cool nights produced spicy and fruit-driven wines marked by vivacious acid and well-integrated tannins. We’d pop this bottle sooner rather than later.
