Founded by David Chapel and Michele Smith-Chapel, this namesake winery is making waves across Beaujolais, producing high-quality wines from organic fruit and minimal intervention in the cellar. ‘Cote de Bessay’ is the couple’s first wine, produced in conjunction with Mathieu and Camille Lapierre. Fruit comes from three hectares of gobelet trained vines in Juliénas, with vines ranging in age from 40-65 years. Juice ferments whole cluster and semi-carbonically, followed by aging in steel with no punchdowns/pumpovers. Juicy and thought-provoking, this wine is as refreshing as it gets.
