‘Sarorunkamuy’ is the first Single Malt whisky released from Akkeshi distillery and we have to say, we’re not at all disappointed. Citrus-driven notes of red fruits, quince, sandalwood, black pepper, and a touch of peat ooze from the spirit’s warm and well-balanced palate. This particular expression is matured in a combination of bourbon, red wine, sherry, and Mizunara casks.
‘Akkeshi Sarorunkamuy’ translates to ‘Japanese red crowned crane,’ which is synonymous with the meaning ‘God of the Wetlands’ – in other words, where the whisky is distilled.
