Domaine Julien is headed by fifth-generation winemaker Etienne Julien, who farms the family’s 10.5 hectares of vines with organic principles. Fruit for this textured and earth-driven Pinot Noir comes from eight different parcels across the Côte de Nuits, including plots stretching from Echezeaux to Aloxe-Corton, which all produce low yields of concentrated, top-quality fruit. Fruit for this Cote de Nuits-Villages is hand-harvested, sorted twice, and destemed. All of the fruit for this cuvée ages the juice for 24 months in barrels (50% new), followed by fermentation with native yeasts and aging for two years in tank and French oak (25% new).
Notes of red cherries, cassis, wild herbs, and damp earth dominate the wine’s savory palate.
